On March 22nd the Klopcic Family said farewell to The Fireside’s co-founder, Betty (Middleton) Klopcic who went to her heavenly home to join her late husband, Dick and their Lord on March 16th. Betty was born in Milwaukee in 1929. She and Dick created The Fireside Restaurant in 1964, added the theatre in 1978, and enjoyed serving guests for many years until passing the business along to the next generation. They were also extremely proud to have seen the business succeed into the third generation now running the business.
Giving credit where credit is due, Betty was the one who insisted in a unique design for the building and also coined the name, wanting it to be something warm and inviting. The appetizer flambeau that The Fireside was well known for in the early years was also her idea. Betty’s greatest joys were spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and encouraging them all in their faith. One of the most genuine, loving souls God ever created, she will be dearly missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing her.
