On Saturday evening, May 9, 1964 Dick and Betty Klopcic opened their new intimate pyramid-shaped restaurant with seating for 120 diners. Named The Fireside for the cozy fireplace at its center and the warm experience they hoped to convey, their mission was to offer the finest foods and exceptional service. From the very beginning, their philosophy was that people will come to where they have been invited and will return to where they have been made to feel welcome.
Today, May 9, 2019, the Fort Atkinson Chamber of Commerce recognized the Klopcic Family for 55 years of business. Since 2015, The Fireside has been owned and operated by the third generation of the Klopcic Family, Ryan and Kristi Klopcic, having purchased the business from Ryan’s parents, Rick and Jane Klopcic, who owned the business from 1998 to 2015. Each generation has embraced the experience, grown the business, improved the product, and put their own personal stamp on The Fireside to keep it interesting to both new guests and long-time customers. If you haven’t been here lately, you should check out the renovation that’s been ongoing since the fall of 2015. The new look for the dining room under the original pyramid debuts in early June.
