America’s favorite cartoon sweetheart is back on The Fireside stage through September 1st with seven shows weekly and youth packages for ages 14 and under. Winner of seven Tony Awards, the Broadway hit ANNIE is a delightful concoction of comic villains, cute little girls, gangsters, President, billionaires and bums.
You’ll be delighted by the young actress playing ANNIE, a spirited orphan who escapes the evil Miss Hannigan, played by Stacey Scotte, for a life with billionaire Oliver Warbucks, played by Fireside favorite Steve Watts. Jennifer Evans takes the stage as Warbucks’ loyal assistant, Grace. In addition to the role of Annie, nine more talented young performers from southeastern Wisconsin alternate performances as the plucky orphans. The role of Annie’s famous canine sidekick, “Sandy” will be played by Willow, a purebred champion Nova Scotia Tolling Retriever whose grandmother performed the role at The Fireside in 2011.
The beloved score features such memorable songs as “It’s the Hard-Knock Life,” “Tomorrow,” and “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile.” The Fireside’s production of ANNIE is directed by Artistic Director Ed Flesch, with musical direction by Mary Ehlinger and choreography by Shanna VanDewerker. The production team includes set designer Rick Rasmussen, lighting designer Jason Fassl, stage manager MJ Bernhardt, and audio engineer Brian Hrpcek.
