We’re so excited to share this beautiful new production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s THE SOUND OF MUSIC.  The famous pair’s last Broadway show turned out to be their most enduring and popular of them all and practically invented the term “family entertainment.”  Based on a true story from Austria in 1938, young Maria Ranier was set to become a nun. Recognizing that she was not yet ready for religious life, the Mother Abbess sends her to be the governess for the seven children of widowed naval officer, Captain Georg Von Trapp. Finding the household strictly run like one of his ships, Maris reintroduces music and warmth and quickly charms both the children and their father.

Leading our cast we are proud to feature Bridgette Karl as Maria, Jon Reinhold as Captain Von Trapp, and Anastasia Glasheen as the Mother Abbess.  Bridgette returns to The Fireside after understudying the role of Eliza Doolittle in 2019’s MY FAIR LADY. She holds a BFA degree from Minnesota State University Mankato and is currently based out of New York City. Jon is a favorite of Fireside audiences having appeared as Adam Pontipee in SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS, Javert in LES MISERABLES, and Emile DeBecque in SOUTH PACIFIC. He has worked extensively in New York as well as an international production of MAMMA MIA! Anastasia appeared early in her career as Millie in SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS and went on to work extensively both domestically and abroad as a performing artist and music educator, including a recent production of Mahler’s Eighth Symphony which earned a 2022 Grammy nomination.
